In todays climate small businesses need you more than ever, In this series of Q&A’s we get to know some of the local business owners and what their businesses have to offer.
Donovan Scherer, Studio Moonfall, 5031 Seventh Avenue
Q. How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
A. This all started with the Fear & Sunshine book series that I created. The story began as little coloring/activity books with Sunshine, the main character, helping monsters. You can’t expect Frankenstein to find his missing brain without help, right?
The characters from these stories had more to them so Fear & Sunshine became a middle grade chapter book series and that began my journey into self-publishing.
Q. What products and services do you provide?
A. I write, illustrate, and self-publishing my own books and coloring books. In the store, I feature all sorts of other independent authors, illustrators, and crafters to help them reach customers since comic conventions and art shows have been wiped out this year.
For local businesses, I started the Color of Kenosha which is now going to be an ongoing series. It gives local small businesses a fun, creative way to promote themselves through coloring pages that I illustrate.
Q. What do you love about Downtown Kenosha?
A. I love being right next to Lake Michigan so that we have immediate access to water for when the inevitable apocalypse happens. Happy 2020!!
Q. How would you describe your business to a potential customers?
A. A Halloween Comic-Con all year long!
Q. What do you offer that stands out from other shops?
A. If you have an idea in your head for something creative that you want to build into your life because day jobs are the absolute worst, stop in and see how people are working toward doing exactly that.
