Sylvester Stallone announces end of Rocky character in farewell video

Sylvester Stallone has announced on Instagram that his famous boxing character Rocky Balboa will be coming to an end.

The actor made the announcement in a video posted on Wednesday that was seemingly filmed on the set of Creed II, the latest film to feature Stallone as Rocky.

“This is probably my last rodeo,” Stallone says in the clip before stating that the Rocky film franchise will live on with star Michael B. Jordan who portrays Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s former rival turned friend Apollo Creed.

“My story has been told. There’s a whole new world that’s gonna be opening up for the audience, for this generation,” Stallone continued before speaking to Jordan. “Now you have to carry the mantle.”

Stallone returned as Rocky on the big screen in 2015 with the first Creed. The character acted as a mentor and trainer for Adonis in the film and its recently released sequel.

“It’s been my Ultimate privilege to have been able to create and play this meaningful character. Though it breaks my heart, Sadly all things must pass… and end. I love you Kind and generous people , and The most wonderful thing of all , is that ROCKY will never die because he lives on in you,” Stallone said to caption the video.
