Sept. 27 (UPI) — Rashida Jones is a first-time mom. E! News reported Wednesday the 42-year-old actress quietly welcomed a son with Vampire Weekend singer Ezra Koenig in August. People confirmed Jones gave birth to a baby boy Aug. 22 in Los Angeles. The birth certificate shows the couple named their son Isaiah Jones Koenig. Jones and Koenig were first linked in January 2017, but have kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Jones, the daughter of music producer Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, discussed the importance of privacy in an interview with Porter magazine published in May. “I am pretty fierce about my privacy. I have made career choices to protect it,” the star said. “I stopped going after big movies because what comes with it is they want you to be as famous as possible. Bruce Dern to replace Burt Reynolds in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’
Sept. 27 (UPI) — Bruce Dern has signed on to take over the late Burt Reynolds‘ role in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Dern, a longtime friend of Reynolds who starred alongside him several times, is taking over the role of George Spahn, the rancher who in real life owned the ranch where Charles Manson lived with his followers in the 1960s. Reynolds had been signed on to play the role and attended a table read with costars prior to his Sept. 6 death. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio as former TV star Rick Dalton and Brad Putt as stunt double Cliff Booth. Dern, a two-time Oscar nominee, is currently in Spain filming a movie called Remember Me. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled for a July 26, 2019 release. More

John Legend named coach for Season 16 of ‘The Voice’
Sept. 13 (UPI) — Music superstar John Legend has signed on as a coach for Season 16 of the singing competition series The Voice, NBC announced Thursday. He will join Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as mentors. Carson Daly will be back as host. “So excited!” Legend tweeted. The entertainer cemented his EGOT status last weekend after he won an Emmy as a producer for the network’s concert event Jesus Christ Superstar, in which he also sang and acted. Legend won an Oscar in 2015 for his original song “Glory” (co-written by Common) from the movie “Selma;” and a Tony Award in 2017 as producer of August Wilson’s Jitney, which won for Best Revival of a Play.
